My Findings (2)

Sick finches will sample medicinal drinks available to them but drink lots of ( target ) those drinks that will attack the germs that they have inside them.

For example, when one of my African finch species had Avian Gastric Yeast ( megabacteria ), I found that making Amphotericin B solution optionally available to them led to their consuming many times the amount of Amphotericin B than they consumed of water. In fact they hardly touched water preferring to drink just Amphotericin B solution instead. I have repeatedly tested out other antibiotics optionally with sick birds of the same and other species and again, the same wonderful ability to choose the right antibiotic drink was shown by the birds for in most cases they subsequently cured themselves following my technique !!

I stress that previous to following this procedure, I had faithfully followed vets' instructions regards the use of antibiotics and in about two thirds of the cases the sick birds did not recover or if they did, they relapsed.

I have found that sick Estrildid finches have the ability to cure themselves as long as the appropriate medicines are available and as long as my technique is carried out correctly.

I describe my technique in detail in my article on how to tap the power of Estrildid finches to cure themselves. Please go to My Articles Page for further details.

I have tested my technique on at least 50 sick birds of several Estrildid species and the results have been impressive because most were cured of life-threatening diseases and remained in excellent health without relapsing for at least 2 years.

The reason why I had so many birds of several species fall ill in my free flying bird room is explained in the web page called Disease Carriers.

I also found that giving antibiotics optionally to sick birds of several Estrildid species in my experience is less likely to lead to antibiotic resistance than following conventional veterinary methods for the following reason.

Doctors say that antibiotic resistance comes about if patients do not take their antibiotics for their full course of treatment. Vets say to give an antibiotic for a certain number of days e.g. to give Toltrazuril (Baycox) for 2 days, Dimetridazole (Emtryl) for 7 days, Enrofloxacin (Baytril) for up to 14 days. However, in my experience sick finches of several species showed me that much more time is needed for these or other antibiotics to take effect on the germs inside their bodies, through the birds' insistence of continuing to drink appropriate antibiotics for far longer than the number of days that vets prescribe. So if anything, antibiotic resistance is even less likely to occur if you allow the sick finches to medicate themselves following my technique.

I would like to stress that sick Estrildid finches have the power of curing themselves of life-threatening diseases as opposed to relatively minor ailments like indigestion, if appropriate medicines are available in their environment. Humans have been taught to drink chamomile tea if they have a stomach ache but they certainly cannot heal themselves of life threatening diseases like I have seen my finches do.

Another point I would like to stress is that all my observations show that Estrildid finches possess this power to self-medicate in their genes and do not learn how to cure themselves from their parents or others in the flock through social learning like apes are suspected of doing.

The power finches have to cure themselves has great potential for us all, for if we can tap this power, there is no doubt that it will revolutionize human medicine. It will be like science fiction. There is more about this on my page called Necessary Scientific Experiment on this site.
